Essential Oils & Pet Danger
- Date: 08-2022
Often when people look for natural products to use on molds and bacteria, they tend to look at essential oils. It is important to note, though, that “natural” does not automatically mean “safe”, especially with pets in our homes. Many essential oils can be toxic to dogs and cats, along with other small furry friends.
For example, Cinnamon, Clove, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Oregano, Pennyroyal, Peppermint, Pine, Sweet birch, Tea Tree, Thyme, Wintergreen, and Ylang Ylang are all harmful to cats.
Anise, Cinnamon, Clove, Garlic, Juniper, Pennyroyal, Peppermint, Pine, Sweet birch, Tea Tree, Thyme, Yarrow, and Ylang Ylang are all harmful to dogs.
This is just a very limited list. A pet owner should always check with their veterinarian before using essential oils in their homes.
And mold issues in your home should always be remediated by professionals.
