Important Information To Consider Prior To Inspection

  • Date: 11-2021

Need mold remediation done, but not sure where to start? Here is some important information to consider before your inspection or any remediation!

1. Mold remediation cannot be considered successful unless the air quality is tested after treatment. Mold is microscopic, so simply removing what is visible can lead to worse problems down the road. Invisible mold must be treated as well.

2. It is essential that the person who is inspecting and creating a plan for remediation has continued education on the subject. Certifying third-party boards such as InterNACHI, IICRC, and the ACAC serve to confirm the knowledge of the inspector.

3. Mold remediation will require specialized equipment for every job. Remediation cannot be completed properly without tools such as commercial air scrubbers, containment, positive/negative air, and mold-grade vacuums.

4. Off-the-shelf chemicals such as peroxide, alcohol, boracare, borathor, concrobium, benefact, sterimist, sporicidin, vinegar, bleach, etc. do not claim to kill the root system of mold. On the bottle they will specifically declare they are to be used for mold on “hard, non-porous surfaces” only.

These products require the removal and disposal of building materials and belongings in the growth area. Green Home Solutions has products and treatment protocols specifically designed for destruction of the root system and preservation of building materials!

5. A general contractor’s liability insurance does not cover mold remediation errors. It is essential that the company you work with has insurance that specifically covers mold remediation. We would be happy to send you a certificate of insurance upon request.

At Green Home Solutions, our approach is direct, fast-acting and highly effective. The health and safety of your family–and the planet– is always our goal. That’s why we use a plant-based and EPA registered product so you can breathe easy!
